Your store on your own domain

Every Shoplio store gets an address at your-slug.shopl.io. On Pro and Enterprise you can also serve it from a domain you own, such as shop.yourbrand.com, with an SSL certificate issued for you. You add one CNAME record; there is nothing to install and no certificate to buy.

Why connect a domain

A domain your buyers recognise is easier to share in a Telegram channel or a Discord server, easier to remember, and stays the same if you rename your shop's slug. It also lets you move the address later without changing what customers type.

One thing it does not do: storefronts on Shoplio are not indexed by search engines, on a shopl.io subdomain or on a custom domain. That is a platform policy. Your domain is for your customers, not for ranking.

How to connect a domain

  1. 1Make sure the shop owner's account is on Pro or Enterprise.
  2. 2In the dashboard, open Settings > Domain, enter the domain (for example shop.yourbrand.com) and save.
  3. 3The dashboard shows the CNAME target. At your DNS provider, create a CNAME record for that hostname pointing to it.
  4. 4Back in Settings > Domain, click Verify. Shoplio checks the record and has an SSL certificate issued for the domain.
  5. 5When the status says the domain is verified, the store answers on it.

What the statuses mean

Limits and rules

Each shop has one custom domain. On Pro that means up to 5 shops with a domain each; Enterprise has no shop limit. Changing the domain replaces the old registration, and clearing the field removes the domain from the shop. Your your-slug.shopl.io address keeps working alongside the custom domain.

Use a hostname you can add a CNAME record to. Many DNS providers allow a CNAME only on a subdomain such as shop.yourbrand.com; a bare root domain needs a provider that supports CNAME flattening.

Troubleshooting

Most problems are in the DNS record itself. Check these in order before contacting support.

If your plan lapses

When a paid plan ends and its 24-hour grace period passes, custom domains stop serving the account's stores, and the stores remain reachable at their shopl.io address. If you pay for the plan again, domains that were verified are switched back on.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own domain for my Shoplio store?

Yes, on Pro ($19/month) and Enterprise ($69/month). Enter the domain in Settings > Domain, add the CNAME record the dashboard shows, and click Verify.

Do I need to buy an SSL certificate?

No. A certificate is issued for your domain automatically once the CNAME record is in place.

Will a custom domain help my store rank on Google?

No. Shoplio storefronts are not indexed by search engines, on any domain. A custom domain makes your store easier to recognise and share.

Can I use a root domain like yourbrand.com?

Only if your DNS provider can put a CNAME-style record on the root (often called CNAME flattening). Otherwise use a subdomain such as shop.yourbrand.com.

How long does custom domain verification take?

Once the CNAME record is visible, the certificate is usually issued within a few minutes. How long the record takes to become visible depends on your DNS provider.

Does the shopl.io address still work after I add a domain?

Yes. your-slug.shopl.io keeps serving the same store.
